Suffering for Christ

Persecution is the daily reality for many Christians around the world.

Acts 5:41

The faith of Christians in these countries is amazing.

Over the years I have visited some countries where Christians are tolerated at best and opposed at worst. I have also visited majority Christian countries where there is opposition by some denominations. Only once have I felt that I was in immediate danger because of my faith. The faith of Christians in these countries is amazing. The Christians I interacted with were Baptist World Aid partners. These Christians were seeking the well-being of those who oppose their faith.

I witnessed Christians acting in a similar way to the way the early church acted. One Roman governor wrote that Christians not only fed their widows but also fed the pagan widows. During a plague Christians would take sick people in and nurse them. Their pagan neighbours would dump sick family members in the street out of fear of catching the sickness.

Persecution is the daily reality for many Christians around the world. I encourage you to be better informed about the conditions our brothers and sisters have to endure.
